Our team carried out a CCTV drain camera inspection and identified tree root intrusion within the underground earthenware stormwater pipework near the property’s boundary.

High-pressure hydro jetting was undertaken to clear the affected stormwater drainage and remove root-related obstructions.

Due to the damaged condition of the existing earthenware pipework, further repairs were required to address the underlying problem.

The affected section was excavated to expose the damaged stormwater pipes. Tree roots and damaged earthenware pipework were removed, and new 100mm PVC stormwater drainage was supplied and installed to replace the affected section.

What we found: After clearing the sewer drainage, a CCTV drain inspection identified significant tree root intrusion restricting the internal diameter of the pipe.

What we did: Used a sewer locator from above ground to pinpoint the affected section, while the CCTV inspection showed the root intrusion inside the pipe.

Blocked toilet traced to tree roots and a broken sewer bend — Wantirna

Problem: Blocked toilet — no other fixtures were affected, so the issue was isolated to that sewer drain.

What we found: Removed the toilet suite to access the sewer line, then a CCTV drain inspection found tree root intrusion in the 100mm sewer pipe.

What we did: Carried out tree root removal with high-pressure hydro jetting, then re-inspected — which is when we found a broken sewer bend associated with the root intrusion.

Result: Client advised of the defect and what's needed to fix it properly, rather than just clearing today's blockage and leaving the underlying cause unresolved.

Sewer line renewal, redirected for a direct run — Somerville

Problem: Old sewer line prone to recurring blockages.

What we found: Poorly configured drainage, excessive changes of direction and sections with inadequate fall, increasing the likelihood of material collecting.

What we did: Renewed 40m of old sewer line with new 100mm PVC pipe, installed on a straight, direct alignment with the required fall.

Result: A more direct route with appropriate fall, reducing the likelihood of recurring blockages.

Terracotta Sewer Replaced & Boundary Trap Renewed — Edithvale

Problem: Recurring sewer blockage.

What we found: Old, deteriorated terracotta sewer pipe underground, along with a failed boundary trap.

What we did: Replaced 12 metres of deteriorated terracotta sewer pipe with new pipe and installed a new boundary trap. The completed drainage works were inspected and passed by the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) before backfilling.

Result: The real cause of the recurring "blockage" resolved, not just cleared again. Old terracotta pipe cracks and shifts over decades, letting tree roots in.

Hidden Water Leak Behind Bathroom Vanity – Berwick

Fine Detail Plumbing recently attended a residential property in Berwick after the homeowner discovered mould developing around their bathroom vanity.

Despite no visible signs of escaping water, the customer suspected a concealed plumbing leak.

Our team carried out pressure testing on the property’s water supply and confirmed a leak was present.

We then isolated the hot water system and repeated the pressure testing. The pressure stabilised, indicating the leak was located within the hot water pipework.

To investigate further, we carefully disconnected and removed the existing wall-hung bathroom vanity to access the concealed plumbing.

We opened the cement-sheet wall lining behind the vanity and located a failed REHAU pipe fitting that appeared to have been leaking for some time.

The damaged fitting was cut out and removed, and a new replacement fitting was installed.

Following the repair, the water supply was restored and the pipework tested to confirm the leak had been rectified.

The concealed hot water leak was located and repaired within a single day, restoring the property’s water supply.

Hidden Recycled Water Leak Found & Repaired — Clyde

Problem: A Clyde homeowner received a high water bill, despite no visible signs of leaking water around the property.

What we found: Testing confirmed a leak in the recycled water supply. Leak detection located a burst fitting beneath the concrete slab where the pipe entered the property.

What we did: Saw-cut the concrete to access the affected section, removed the burst fitting and installed a replacement. We then tested the repaired line and reinstated the affected area.

Burst Water Pipe Repair & Driveway Reinstatement – Ferntree Gully

Underground Water Leak Repair – Ferntree Gully

Fine Detail Plumbing attended a residential unit complex in Ferntree Gully after a water leak was detected beneath the concrete driveway.

The location of the underground leak was identified, and the driveway was carefully concrete saw-cut to access the damaged waterline.

Our team hand-excavated beneath the driveway and exposed a split 25mm poly elbow fitting, which was responsible for the water leak.

The damaged fitting was disconnected and removed, and a new replacement fitting was supplied and installed.

Once the repair was completed, the waterline was tested to confirm the leak had been rectified.
